Loki Rothman
South African guitar virtuoso, Loki Rothman is the complete package. He has mastered many genres on the guitar, has a mesmerizing voice, and paints beautiful landscapes with his original lyrics.
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Loki Rothman burst onto the scene with his guitar act on the first season of SA’s Got Talent back in 2009.
He joined popular rapper Jack Parow on stage both locally and internationally on tour, including shows in Moscow, Holland, Belgium, Dubai, and London.
Five years down the line Loki decided to put all his focus into a solo career as a guitarist, singer, songwriter, film composer & music producer.
From his studio in Cape Town Loki has composed and scored music for various films such as “Liewe Kersfeesvader”, “Thys & Thrix”, “Jou Romeo”, “Kromkieriefontein” and more.
His first debut solo album “The Way Back” got nominated for a South African Music Award in 2016.
Since then he has collaborated, co-produced, written, and performed with various artists such as Jack Parow, Die Antwoord, Dirt Nasty, Toya DeLazy, Kurt Darren, Die Heuwels Fantasies, Riana Nel, Justin de Nobrega, Snotkop, Fokofpolisiekar, Francois van Coke, and legendary South African Afrikaans singer Laurika Rauch.
Loki and Laurika Rauch won a Ghoema Award for Best Ringtone Sales in 2017 and he also won a Woordtrofee award at the South African Woordfees (festival) for Best Solo Artist in the Contemporary Music category (2017) and another Woordtrofee for Best Group in Contemporary Music with the Soweto String Quartet (2019).
As a guitarist Loki’s unique fingerstyle and percussive features have gained him international attention on his youtube channel. Currently, he is working on a debut Afrikaans album that will be released later this year. He has also recently been signed to the Coleske Artist Record Label and confirmed as the composer for the new South African Huisgenoot film “Vergeet My Nie.”
Loki is also the Musical Director of various shows in South Africa such as Die Bokkie Awards, and the Jan Blohm Revue Show to name a few.
Recent News:
Loki got invited to perform at Francois Pienaar’s MAD Charity event in New York in June and is also currently reaching out and working with composers & songwriters from LA.
